As a part time Traveling Program Coordinator you will facilitate an exceptional experience for volunteers at events across the country while furthering our mission of feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. Traveling Program Coordinators are scheduled for 2-4 events per month, often encompassing weekends. This position is based out of our Schaumburg, IL location, though you’ll be working off-site frequently.

 The day-to-day:

  • Build connections, answer questions, and show genuine appreciation to our amazing volunteers!
  • Speak in front of large groups in a variety of styles (i.e. educating, storytelling, persuading and instructing).
  • Perform warehousing tasks.
    • Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during (8-12 hour) shifts
    • Lift 30-50 lbs. repeatedly
    • Use hand tools, like utility knives
    • Move inventory using pallet jacks and an industrial powered forklift (don’t worry, we’ll provide training)
  • Ensure packing sessions run smoothly from the flow of people and materials, to tracking meal production.
  • Lead a Christian prayer over packed meals, inviting volunteers to join in if they’d like, as prayer is an essential part of what we do.
  • Finally, Traveling Program Coordinators have high energy and a tendency to fill in the gaps in a fast-paced, team environment.

This is a very physically demanding position. A majority of your day would require:

- Maintaining energy and stamina during 10+ hours of nearly continuous standing/walking
- Frequently working in a loud environment (music playing, people cheering and talking, warehouse equipment, etc.)
- Frequently lifting 30-50 pound boxes and bags
- Frequently opening containers, grasping objects and using hand tools like scissors
- Occasionally pushing and pulling heavy pallets using a manual pallet jack
- Occasionally lifting boxes and other items from the floor
- Occasionally reaching/removing boxes and other items on shelves
- Squatting, bending and twisting, while repeatedly circling a pallet with stretch wrap
- Climbing in and out of the back of a trailer, typically 4ft off the ground, using hands, arms and legs
