Program Coordinator (Full Time)

Your Role:
Facilitate impactful and productive volunteer experiences through hospitality and authentic connections. Lead groups in packing Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) food, ask for donations, understand and ensure food and personnel safety compliance, perform warehousing tasks, and assist with site initiatives and special projects.

Pay, Schedule & Benefits:
  • Wage is $17.00/hour. This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. This is not a seasonal position.
  • Regular schedule includes a combination of weekdays, weeknights and Saturdays, subject to staffing needs. Occasional Sunday and holiday availability required.
  • Monthly trainings and meetings are required.

What You’ll Do:
  • Create an impactful and dynamic volunteer experience. Tell volunteers about our mission and invite them to volunteer again. Provide exceptional hospitality. Warmly greet volunteers, create a great first impression, answer questions, authentically thank them and express how important their contribution is to FMSC.
  • Give large group presentations that include food impact stories and information about FMSC.
  • Ask volunteers to donate. Share how volunteers can invest in feeding kids with their time, finances and prayers.
  • Promote campaigns, events and MarketPlace™ items based on each volunteer’s unique interests.
  • Orchestrate packing sessions. Anticipate needs, think ahead, troubleshoot problems and be flexible with the unpredictability of a volunteer workforce.
  • Clean and set up supplies in preparation for volunteers.
  • Give an opening presentation. Direct volunteers on how to safely pack food and handle supplies.
  • Monitor the time, manage transitions, flex with changing production needs and track production.
  • Lead a Christian prayer over packaged food and invite volunteers to join.
  • Give a closing presentation, encourage donations and conduct transactions on a cash register.
  • Clean, label inventory, palletize boxes and store pallets using a pallet jack.
  • Maintain a clean and food-safe facility: do laundry and clean floors, dishes and bathrooms several times per day.
  • Uphold food safety, food quality, volunteer safety and personnel safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance.
  • Assist with site initiatives and special projects in an assigned focus area. Ex: calling group leaders, implementing safety processes, handling MarketPlace inventory, reorganizing materials or training peers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
  • Passionate about FMSC’s Christian mission and living it out in the workplace.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to exert yourself physically for a 4-8 hour shift. Able to walk and stand in intervals up to 4 hours. Able to push, pull, lift 30-50 lbs. repeatedly, bend, twist, and use hand tools like utility knives.
  • Thrives in a team setting. Able to pitch in, fill in gaps, remain flexible, ask for help and share responsibilities.
  • Enthusiastic, assertive and confident when sharing information with groups and individuals.
  • Focused on hospitality: recognize and meet volunteer needs. Can build rapport and maintain relationships.
  • Able to identify and solve problems. Responsible and able to use good judgment and discretion.
  • Respect and value FMSC’s volunteers and supporters, varying in beliefs, backgrounds and abilities.
  • Able to tolerate consistent exposure to soy (an allergen).

This is a very physically demanding position. A majority of your day would require:

- Maintaining energy and stamina during 4-8 hours of nearly continuous standing/walking on concrete flooring
- Frequently working in a loud environment (music playing, people cheering and talking, warehouse equipment, etc.)
- Frequently lifting 25-50 pound boxes and bags
- Frequently opening containers, grasping objects and using hand tools like scissors
- Doing laundry and cleaning floors, dishes and bathrooms
- Pushing and pulling heavy pallets using a manual pallet jack
- Occasionally lifting boxes and other items from the floor
- Occasionally reaching/removing boxes and other items on shelves
- Crouching, bending and walking while repeatedly circling a pallet with stretch wrap
